My youngest child recently started Kindergarten. It is a bittersweet time. It's so difficult to let him go, but I am so excited about his potential! Luckily, there is a wonderful group of moms with little ones starting Kindergarten this year, too. I wanted to commemorate this special occasion with a casual, intimate get-together. I hosted a brunch for eight local Kindergarten moms. It was a wonderful morning, spent with some amazing women. We have all watched our little caterpillars blossom into gorgeous, colorful butterflies. Now, it is time let them fly! When I found this beautiful printed butterfly printed fabric, I knew it would be perfect for the Kindergarten mommies' brunch
Decorations: The butterflies, which were the focus of the fabric background, were also repeated on the printable paper goods, as edible decorations on the doughnut hole cake, on the mason jar glasses and up the side of the water container. I created a centerpiece for the dessert table with branches I found in my yard and paper flowers. In addition, a larger branch, decorated with paper flowers, was used down the center of the dining table. For a table runner, I used butcher paper and glued lace and ribbon down the edge. Doilies used throughout the party, hung as a garland over the drink station, used on the juice pitchers and as coasters for the drinks, were another lacy touch.
Food: The menu consisted of Goat Cheese and Artichoke Mini Stratas, Mini French Toast Cupcakes with Bacon and Maple Syrup Buttercream, Country Ham and Biscuits, Berry Parfaits and a Donut Hole Cake.
Activities: The guests were given handmade Lavendar Earl Grey tea soap for favors. The soaps were wrapped in tissue paper to resemble tea bags. Also, there was a table set-up for the moms to write notes to their Kindergarteners. It gave them the chance to write how proud they are of their child or to give their child a message of encouragement.
A brunch with these fabulous ladies was a great way to start the Kindergarten year. I look forward to spending the next several years with these women, watching our children blossom!
